Counseling for anxiety and depression

Ongoing individual counseling, in person in Evergreen and online across Alabama — or online if you are in Florida. Adolescents from fourteen, adults and couples. Every inquiry gets an answer the same day.

What the work actually is

A standing appointment with the same counselor, for as long as it stays useful. Most of it is talking, and the point of the talking is to find the shape of the thing — what sets it off, what it costs you, what has already been tried. That takes more than one session, which is why the work is ongoing rather than a single consultation.

Where trauma turns out to be part of the picture, we use Cognitive Processing Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy — structured courses of work with evidence behind them, described on the services page.

The kind of anxiety and depression we see most

The low-grade kind that never quite lifts, as much as the acute kind. People who are functioning — holding a job, raising children, showing up — and finding it costs far more than it should. People who have been told they are doing fine and cannot make that match how the week actually felt.

A great many of the people we sit with are the ones other people call when something goes wrong. That is not incidental to how we practice. We are the mental health counseling provider to the Conecuh County Fire Association, and first responders carry a particular version of this.

Who this is for

  • Adolescents from fourteen, adults and couples. We do not see children under fourteen.
  • In person at our office in Evergreen, for anyone who can travel to Conecuh County.
  • Online anywhere in Alabama, and online for clients in Florida.

How long it takes

Honestly: it depends, and anyone who gives you a number before meeting you is guessing. Some people come for six weeks around a specific thing. Some stay a year. We will tell you at the end of the first session what we think the work looks like, and you decide from there.

Sessions are 50 minutes.

The frequency of therapy sessions is based on your individual needs, goals, and treatment plan. Some clients may benefit from weekly or biweekly sessions, while others may meet less frequently as symptoms improve and progress is made. You and your therapist will discuss the schedule that best supports your care.

Starting

Booking goes through our online calendar; intake forms and billing are handled in our clinical system, not on this website. If you would rather speak to someone before you book, send us a message or call — Tiffany answers, and after hours you will get a voicemail that is picked up the same day.
